Within the general framework of the Qatar – German Cultural Year 2017, the embassy of the State of Qatar received on Friday March 17th, 2017 a group of students and accompanying teachers from “ Theodore – Litt School of Nuemünster near the city of Hamburg-Germany. H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, ambassador of the State of Qatar to Germany, spoke with the students and teachers providing them with an in depth insight on efforts invested by the State of Qatar to accommodate the FIFA World Cup Championship 2022 in a unique and state – of -the -art set up. H.E. the ambassador focused his discussion on issues of sustainable development and how the State of Qatar intends to realize this approach within its sports constructions and in preparation to hosting the world cup; both in terms of adopting environmental friendly standards in the construction work and services and maximizing on the benefit use of the sport facilities post the world cup. H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stressed the commitment of the State of Qatar on its promise to donate sports facilities to developing countries that lack well equipped sport infrastructures endorsing its national vision 2030 and enhancing its strong believe that “sport” bridges the gap between cultures and provides a common interest between civilizations. Furthermore, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani gladly answered various questions on tourism, culture, daily life patterns and the legal labour framework in Qatar.
