Welcome to the website of the Embassy of The State of Qatar in Berlin. The Website will provide you with an overview of the State of Qatar. Qatar and Germany have long term relations and strong partnership.

Qatar is an important partner for Germany in the Gulf region and the Middle East. Through dialogue, we discuss issues related to the present and the future. There is no doubt that our bilateral relations have become stronger than ever not only in the political and economic fields, but also in other areas such as cultural, sports and educational exchanges. In light of the current international situation, it is essential to expand cooperation between the two countries.

In order to achieve the "Qatar Vision 2030" and the state's aspirations to diversify the sources of its economy, we consider Germany an important partner for Qatar within the European Union. In addition, Qatar has wide and diverse investments in Germany.

My ambition as Ambassador is to deepen and further develop the existing cooperation between the two countries at all levels.

We are also keen to provide you in this website with information about the State of Qatar, the function of the embassy in Berlin and the services provided by the Consular Affairs.

  • Since 2018: Minister of State.

  • 1981 - 1999: certified pilot instructor by way of the British Royal Air Force

  • 1990 - 2000: Military Attaché to the United Kingdom .

  • 2000 - 2005: Member of the Planning High Council .

  • 2000 - 2005: Chief of the Royal Court (Amiri Diwan of the State of Qatar) and member of the Planning Council.

  • 2001 - 2006: Founding Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the North Atlantic College in Qatar.

  • 2000 - 2020: Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Group.

  • 2014 -2017: Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority and Member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.

  • 2014 – 2018: Deputy Chairman of the board of Directors of Qatar National Bank - QNB.

Professional Experience

  • Chairman of Harrods.

  • Member of the board of directors of Sovereign wealth funds.

  • Member in ITU Broadband Commission for Digital Development.

  • Member of the World Bank Group Advisory Council for Gender and Development.

  • Member on the Advisory Board of the World Economic Forum’s Gender Parity Program.

  • Served at Qatar's Emiri Air Force.

  • Graduated pilot from the British Army Air Corps and holds high professional experience in aviation .

  • Successfully completed a number of programs at various military institutions.
