H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the Federal Republic of Germany met with Mr. Reinhard Dieter Grindel, President German Football Association (DFB) at the Embassy presmises.
H.E.The Ambassador briefed Mr, Grindel on the wide steps that the State of Qatar has taken in terms of developing the legislative and legal structure that guarantees the rights of workers, which H.E. the ambassdor described as "partners in the development and construction of the country".
H.E. The Ambassador referred to the amendments on the Qatari law that addressed many privileges to the worker especially those related to the payment of workers that requires transferring the foreigner’s worker salary to a bank account and thus enabling the workers to have access to their salary on due time as well as the amendments of the sponsorship which was abolished and replaced by a new one that grant the employee the right to change work to another employer in accordance with the rules defined by the law.
The worker can also travel without a written permission from the employer. H.E The Ambassador pointed out at the Approval of the Council of Ministers on a draft law establishing a fund for expatriate workers so that the worker can get the salary from this fund in case the employer delayed payment of salary in order to ensure the workers right to have access to salaries on due time and live in dignity.
H.E The Ambassador added, " All these legislation affirms that that State of Qatar has taken pioneering steps to protect the workers rights and provide the living facilities to improve the standards of living and conditions as well as the workers access to free medical treatment, weekly leave, fixing working hours, provide entertainment venues to practice their hobbies."
