H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar and H.E Mr. Sigmar Gabriel, the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, jointly inaugurated “The Diwan – The Arabic Culture House” in Berlin.

The Diwan is one of the most beautiful buildings in the district of Zehlendorf. The Embassy of the State of Qatar restored the ancient building to preserve its historical character and transformed it into the Arabic Cultural House – The Diwan, aiming at bringing cultures together, building bridges of communication and introducing the Arab culture in arts, music, literature and cinema.

The Arabic Cultural House will contribute to strengthening the Arabic-German relations and establishing a broad strategic dialogue in the cultural field, which will enhance mutual cultural understanding, strengthen bilateral institutional relations through partnership with other cultural institutions in Germany and introduce the rich Arab culture through the Center's huge library and reading room.

The Arab Cultural House "The Diwan" has a significant importance as it is the first Qatari cultural center outside the State of Qatar.

A large number of officials, intellectuals, representatives of universities, research and intellectual centers in Germany attended the opening ceremony.
