The opening of the Qatari pavilion in the International exhibition "Green Week" in Berlin

With the participation of H. E. Mr. Christian Schmidt, Minister of Nutrition and Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany, H. E. Mr. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, Minister of Municipality and Environment of the State of Qatar, opened on Friday 19 January 2018 in the presence of H. E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Qatari pavilion at the International  "Green Week" at the 83rd session, which takes place this year between January 19-28, 2018 at the exhibition grounds in Berlin.

H.E. Al Rumaihi participated in the presence of H.E. the Ambassador in the tenth meeting of Ministers of Agriculture attended by more than 70 Minister of Agriculture from around the world. H. E. the Ambassador Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, held several meetings, focusing on discussing ways of joint cooperation in the agricultural sector, the food industry and related development technology. Where he met with the German Food and Agriculture Minister, H.E Christian Schmidt, and H.E Thomas Silberhorn, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development. A meeting was also held with H.E Mr. Dejan Zidan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Environment of the Republic of Slovenia, as well as with H.E Dr. Saeed Hussein Lid, the Somali Minister of Agriculture, furthermore with H.E Dr. Fuad Bin Jaafar Saguriani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Sultanate of Oman, and His Excellency also held a meeting with H.E Mr. Ahmet Ashraf Fakibaba, Minister of Food, agriculture and Livestock in Turkey.

It is worth mentioning that the outstanding Qatari participation in this exhibition was the outcome of the strategic relations between the State of Qatar in the Federal Republic of Germany and the mutual visits between the two countries, which culminated in the visit of the Qatari Businessmen Association in November 2017. This is the first time that the State of Qatar has participated in the work of this exhibition, represented by the Development Bank, in addition to 15 Qatari companies specialized in food, agriculture and livestock. The exhibition "Green Week", which has been hosting since 1926 the German capital Berlin, is the largest international exhibition specialized in agriculture and food. The exhibition includes all agricultural magazines such as vegetables, fruits, cereals, meat, fish, dairy products and gardens. The exhibition covers about 115 thousand square meters, More than 1,600 exhibitors representing more than 70 countries. This exhibition is a global starting point for food and agriculture, and annually attracts more than 600,000 professionals and specialists.
